Obesity is a condition in which the natural energy reserve, stored in the fatty tissue of humans and other mammals, is increased to a point where it is associated with certain health conditions or increased mortality. Obesity is both an individual clinical condition and is increasingly viewed as a serious public health problem. Excessive body weight has been shown to predispose to various diseases, particularly cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus type 2, sleep apnea and osteoarthritis.

The tendency towards obesity is by two bad habits; one is lack of physical activity, laziness and the other one is consumption of high calorie and low-cost foods. But there are ways to beat obesity or to prevent it from affecting you at the initial stage itself. Here are some Ayurvedic food guidelines to prevent obesity:

1. Maintain a balanced and intelligent diet chart and avoid getting obsessed with any particular food item especially if that contains more of calories or fat.

2. A good amount of moong and masoor pulses should be included in your diet regime to treat obesity.

3. It is mandatory to avoid sweets, salty or oily foods and curd especially at night for people suffering from obesity. Instead, buttermilk is a better option and it contains less of fat and more of protein. Warm water is quite beneficial for fighting obesity.

4. Some Ayurvedic stuffs like Guduchi, Triphala or Musta should be taken mixed with honey. Takrarishta is also advisable. Triphala churna is best advisable at bedtime.

5. Another useful thing that would help you beat obesity is Bruhat Panchamoola powder mixed with honey. Amla powder also works wonder on curbing obesity.
