The first approach to treat obesity is and must remain diet. A proper and balanced diet plays the key role in treating obesity as well as doesn’t affect your health. Diet doesn’t always mean eating less and exercising. That would lessen down your fat undoubtedly but at the same time will make you weaker to even take any kind of stress. Therefore, it’s advisable to maintain a balanced diet that is prescribed to treat obesity and then go in for the exercises to reduce the overweight.

Here is a diet regime following which will unquestionably treat your obesity with gentleness:
  • Eat more high-fiber food like fruits, vegetables, whole meal bread, cereals, peas and beans.
  • Avoid food high in sugar like biscuits, chocolate, rich cakes, sweet pastries and soft drinks.
  • Steam, grill, bake, boil or stir fry your food in very little oil.
  • Eat regular meals starting with breakfast. Try not to skip meals.
  • Avoid snacking while reading, studying or watching television.

There are diet therapies that help reducing extra weight and the first rule implies reducing calories moderately is essential to achieve a slow but steady weight loss, which is also important for maintenance of weight loss. Cut down on fatty foods and eat more bread, fruit and vegetables. Two main types of dietary therapy are a low calorie diet (800–1500 kcal daily), and a very low calorie diet (less than 800 kcal of energy daily), which usually consists of a protein-enriched liquid. Energy consumption must be reduced. High calorie/low volume foods should be avoided and replaced with an increase in complex carbohydrates (such as whole grain foods) and an increase in fruit and vegetables.

Very low calorie diets are not prudent in children and they are not effective. Eating 300 to 500 calories less per day, may lead to losing between one and two pounds per week. Having a glass of water instead of juice, eating less lunch than usual and having smaller portions of the food of your choice are ways to reduce calorific intake without having to necessarily modify your diet significantly. Avoid a second helping at dinner and snacks between meals, which may have become a habit. Cut down on beer and alcohol. All these things will influence your health in a positive way.
